Jeon Ji-hyun and Kang Dong-won brave the brewing Tempest
by tccolb

Danger is loud and clear in the latest poster and teaser for Disney+’s Tempest, swamping Jeon Ji-hyun (Jirisan) and Kang Dong-won (Uprising, Magic) in the spy romance’s unleashing storm.
The teaser opens with a speedy recap of what we learned in teaser one. A politically-motivated mass praying for the unification of the two Koreas had been taking place, when someone tried to assassinate Park Hae-joon (Love Take Two) – a presidential candidate and husband to our diplomat Seo Moon-joo (Jeon Ji-hyun). And Moon-joo once again questions the shadowy identity of our special agent hero who suddenly appeared to help.
However, this time, we get some back story, revealing that Baek San-ho (Kang Dong-won) was hired to secretly protect her. Presumably, Jang Joon-ik (Park Hae-joon) also survived and stepped down from the elections because a news report announces Moon-joo’s decision to run for president herself. Her mother-in-law and chairwoman Lee Mi-sook (Queen of Tears then remarks in voiceover, how Moon-joo is now revered by the public as a modern-day Joan of Arc, for using her body like a shield to protect her husband from the shooter.
Moon-joo’s goal, though, is to uncover the truth and the current South Korean President Kim Hae-sook (Who Is She) cautions that this playing field is much, much bigger than it seems, entangling American official John Cho (The Sympathizer) and NIS Chief Yoo Jae-myung (Uncle Samsik), in addition to Joon-ik’s brother, prosecutor Oh Jung-se (Good Boy).
Indeed, the story’s storm is now raging over the sequence as we catch a glimpse of Moon-joo’s aide Lee Sang-hee (S Line), Joon-ik’s aide Joo Jong-hyuk (Unmasked), and a secret-knowing Won Ji-ahn (Squid Game 3) as well. Although Moon-joo is conflicted by San-ho’s loyalty, she honestly tells him that she can’t fully trust him. And the teaser closes on San-ho’s reply: “Don’t trust me. I’ll just be standing behind you. Always.”
Helmed by PD Kim Hee-won (Queen of Tears, Little Women) and filmmaker Heo Myung-haeng (The Round-up: Punishment), with screenwriter Jung Seo-kyung (Decision to Leave, Little Women) penning the scripts, Disney+’s Tempest will be launching on September 10.
