To The Moon starring Lee Sun-bin, Ra Mi-ran, Jo Ah-ram, Kim Young-dae

Genre: Rom-com, workplace
Episode count: 12
Global streamer: Kocowa+

Reasons to watch: Work lives and personal lives overlap in the new MBC drama, To the Moon, when co-workers become friends and try to earn a fortune in stocks and crypto. It feels like everyone and their mother is dabbling in stocks and crypto these days, at least in Korea, and the drama takes us on a financial adventure featuring three women who are tired of having almost nothing to show for their hard work.

Lee Sun-bin, Ra Mi-ran, Jo Ah-ram are all employed at the same company in contract positions. But no matter how many hours they put in at the office, their paychecks are always the same amount, and their bank accounts never quite seem to be full enough. After all, you can do your best to build up a nest egg, but there’s only so much you can save when you don’t even earn much in the first place.

We’ll see how things work out for them on the crypto train, though I’m more interested in their friendship, and filling out the cast and the rom- part of this rom-com is Kim Young-dae. He also works for the same company as the three women, but since he’s a director he doesn’t have the same financial worries. In fact, he seems to have it all, but the one thing he wants is a dream to chase. When he gave up his dream of becoming a singer in favor of the stable life of a salaryman, he thought his life of dreaming was over for good. But when he meets Lee Sun-bin at work, something about her rekindles his hopes for finding a dream of his own.
