watchOS may adopt visionOS-inspired design and support Apple Intelligence
Following reports that iOS and macOS will look and feel more like visionOS, Israeli site The Verifier claims watchOS is joining the party too.
The Verifier says the next watchOS version has “elements” of visionOS, such as a bolder and more transparent floating interface. Additionally, Apple is believed to be “working on several ideas” for the Home Screen. Interestingly, a recent iOS 19 leak suggested a new interface with rounded app icons and a dock.
Apple Intelligence is also reportedly coming to watchOS and tvOS. The Verifier believes a new chip will enable the Apple Watch Ultra to support Apple Intelligence. The other Apple Watch models are slated to support Apple Intelligence “a year later”.
Though it’s unclear how Apple Intelligence might work or benefit the Apple Watch, some Apple Intelligence features that could appear on future Apple Watches include notification summaries, Genomji, and a “new Siri”.
Having said all that, it’s worth remembering that Apple’s AI chief John Giannandrea shared that Apple Intelligence requires a device powered by the A17 Pro, M1, or newer chips with at least 8GB of RAM.
However, current Apple Watch models only come with 1GB of RAM, and the S-series chips are nowhere as powerful as the A and M series. Therefore, you should probably take The Verifier’s report with a generous pinch of salt.
Apple will hold its annual WWDC conference on the week of 9 June. We will know then what surprises Apple has in store.
