Apple reportedly working on two Vision Pro devices, one is tethered to Mac
Despite selling fewer than 500,000 units last year, Apple is believed to be moving forward with the development of two new Vision Pro devices.
One of the two upcoming devices is described to be lighter and less costly than the current Vision Pro. Bloomberg reported last year that this device could be called Apple Vision or Apple Vision One and might launch later this year with a price tag that’s between US$1,500 (~S$1,967) and US$2,000 (~S$2,623).
However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo disagrees, having shared back in November 2024 that production has been pushed back “beyond 2027 for a while now” due to a lack of meaningful use cases.
The other Vision Pro device is said to plug into a Mac for a lower latency experience. Bloomberg says this higher-end device can stream a Mac display or integrate with enterprise applications with minimal lag. The report says this particular Vision Pro could be used in surgery or flight simulators.
Bloomberg’s latest claims align with TrendForce’s December 2024 report, which reveals that Apple is pursuing a two-pronged strategy to increase the appeal of the Vision Pro.
