ASUS unveils world’s first smart band that measures blood pressure and ECG
ASUS isn’t the first brand that comes to mind when you think of fitness trackers or smart bands, but the Taiwanese brand grabbed attention earlier this week with its new VivoWatch 6 Aero wearable.
ASUS claims the VivoWatch 6 Aero is the world’s first smart band that measures blood pressure and ECG. It does this via your fingertip and it’s made possible by the use of an innovative sputter deposition process to integrate the PPG and ECG sensors into the chassis.
You need to place your finger on the front sensor module to check blood pressure, and blood oxygen level (SpO2), or take an ECG. When worn, the back sensor can continuously monitor Pulse Transit Time (PTT Index), SpO2, and heart rate throughout the day.
The VivoWatch 6 Aero is powered by ASUS Health AI 5.0, an advanced AI system developed by a specialised team in medical algorithms and biosensing technology. It collects and analyzes data in real time to deliver meaningful health insights, which are presented through easy-to-read charts and graphs in the ASUS HealthConnect app.
Other specs include a 1.1-inch AMOLED screen, GPS sensor, Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, 5 ATM water resistance rating, and a 135mAh battery that can last up to 5 days.
The 28g ASUS VivoWatch 6 Aero is compatible with Android 8.0 or later devices, and iPhones running iOS 13 or later.
