It’s been a long time coming; Bethesda has officially unveiled The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, a complete rework of the popular 2006 open-world title which is available to purchase now.

Rumours of the remaster have always been in circulation, but it all came to a head about a week ago, when images from the game were found on game studio Virtuos’s website, prior to any announcement. For context, Virtuos is a Singapore-based studio that specialises in co-developing modern remakes (including 2023’s Modern Warfare III and 2025’s MGS Delta: Snake Eater), and with whom Bethesda partnered for the Oblivion remaster.

Bethesda says that the remaster project began in 2021, and one aspect that’s being hammered in is the remaster’s major visual improvements. Retaining Bethesda’s proprietary Creation Engine as the core of the game that runs the world’s logic and gameplay, developers utilised tools and features provided by Unreal Engine 5 to overhaul the game’s visuals. Take a gander at some of the new scenes in Oblivion Remastered:

And Bethesda does mean overhaul; every single asset in Oblivion Remastered was remade from scratch, including new, more detailed character models. Other visual changes such as improved lip syncing, more realistic lighting, and support for 4K60fps are here too. They come alongside other quality of life changes such as a reworked HUD, menu and maps, improved enemy scaling, improved UI for certain systems such as Persuasion and Clairvoyance, and modifications to certain conditions such as leveling and encumbrance, among others.

Pricing and availability

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster is available now and comes in two versions, a Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition. Both versions include the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine story expansions, but the Deluxe Edition gives you new quests for unique armour sets and weapons, as well as a digital artbook and soundtrack app.

The game is available on Xbox Series X|S and PC via Xbox Store. It’s also available on Steam and PS5. The Standard Edition goes for S$69, while the Deluxe Edition will go for S$81. The Standard Edition is also included on Xbox Game Pass, no doubt a good thing for those subscribed to the service.
