A ~S$100 phone? Poco C71 comes to Singapore as the next affordable all-rounder

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Poco has launched a new entry-level, all-rounder smartphone: the Poco C71.

It combines the basics of what makes phones feel nice for everyday use, like a clear display with a big battery, and keeps its price so low that even tariff-struck countries would find it hard to believe.

Without further ado:

Poco C71

Poco C71 uses a 6.88-inch Dot Drop Display. It uses LCD technology with 8-bit colour depth and 450-nits typical brightness, but it still packs a 120Hz refresh rate and triple TÜV Rheinland eye comfort certifications (Low Blue Light Software Solution, Flicker Free, and Circadian Friendly).

All this is on a 1,640 x 720 pixels resolution panel with a 90% screen-to-body ratio. If most of your entertainment and livelihood rely on a phone’s screen, Poco C71 has it designed to live up to the task.

Powering the device is a UNISOC T7250 chipset. This is the first UNISOC-containing phone we (at HWZ) have encountered in a while. We don’t have much experience with them, but its specs certainly look entry-level when we glanced at its specs. RAM (LPDDR4X) and storage (eMMC 5.1) combos are either 3GB+64GB or 4GB+128GB.

Cameras include a 32MP rear (f/2.0 aperture) and 8MP front (f/2.0 aperture), sufficiently covering any needs for visual documentation and video calling. Poco said the rear camera is improved with 18% more lighting intake, so it’s still an upgrade even if it’s designed for essential photography.

Also available is IP52-rated water and dust resistance, which allows it to withstand light splashes and some dust from entering the device.

More importantly, however, this Android 15 phone has a large 5,200mAh battery and 15w wired charging, on top of a 3.5mm headphone port next to its USB-C hole.

Poco C71 retails at S$109 (4GB RAM + 128GB storage) in Black, gold and Blue. You have no idea how glad we are to see a phone that still costs ~S$100 in 2025.

From 24 April to 8 May 2025, it’s going at a promotional price of S$99 if you apply the S$10 voucher found on the official Xiaomi online store, and its official Shopee/Lazada platforms.
