Nintendo Pop-up returns to Jewel at Changi, along with new Mario Kart attractions and activities

After more than a year, the Nintendo Pop-up Store at Jewel Changi Airport is back, and this time it features more exclusive products that weren’t available in the last pop-up store. 

But that’s not all. The return of the pop-up store comes as part of a larger collaboration between Nintendo and Jewel that will see Mario Kart installations integrated into the mall’s environment. 

Before we get to that, let’s take a look at the pop-up. Like the original pop-up in 2023, merchandise that are typically Japan-only will be available for purchase at the store. They’ll come alongside the more than 150 new products exclusive to this pop-up, totaling over 500 items. The merchandise spans the Super Mario, Animal Crossing, Legend of Zelda, Splatoon and Pikmin series.

In addition, postcards will be available for those who spend $100 or more in a single transaction (while stocks last, and you’re unable to combine receipts to get it). This is similar to the postcards that were available at the last pop-up, though the design is a little bit different:

In addition to the pop-up store, the promotional period will also see Jewel transformed into a Rainbow Road-inspired race course as part of the Mario Kart Jewel Circuit Challenge.

New attractions will be installed across levels 1 to 5, including a few right at Forest Valley and Jewel Rain Vortex. The new attractions include a 5m x 4m centrepiece, which is one of Jewel’s biggest ever installations, along with a 1.3m-tall figure of Mario Kart’s Banana item.

It’s not just a passive experience, though. Visitors to Jewel can also fill up a stamp rally card by finding all the six different installations and collecting a unique stamp at each of them. Once your stamp card is complete, visitors can head to the redemption counter near the Level 1 Concierge to receive an exclusive Mario kart sticker pack, featuring Yoshi, Peach, Luigi, Mario and power-up items. The packs will come in a blind box, and each pack contains one character and three power-up stickers mixed at random.

Finally, a Gachapon machine will also be located near the Level 1 Concierge counter. There are two ways to get a token; spend a minimum of S$80 at participating stores at Jewel (Mastercard users also get a bonus token), or buy a token directly via the Changi App for S$6. Prizes include vouchers, attraction tickets, discounts and gift cards.

From 1 to 12 May, visitors can also stand a chance to win a free token by participating in a photo challenge: Simply take and share photos of the Mario Kart Jewel Circuit Challenge installations on social media, follow one of Jewel’s social media accounts and show it to the Concierge staff to enter and potentially get a free token.
