April 2025 updates for Google Pixel phones are now live, and here’s what you can expect
Google has released the April 2025 software update for Pixel devices, which covers the Pixel 6 (review here) and new devices like the latest Google Pixel 9a, which will be available in Singapore later this week (16 April 2025).
The update includes several quality-of-life improvements, such as better fingerprint recognition responses and camera zoom stability.
Fixes include eliminating a screen flickering bug in certain streaming apps, overlapping UI elements while on the lock screen’s weather clock, and some user-creation issues with the Pixel Launcher.
The update also provides essential security patches to Google Assistant, its WLAN driver, and modem. It doesn’t sound as fun, but it makes the update even more important.
If you’re using a Global, unlocked version of the following Pixel devices (which includes Singapore), the following devices can expect the over-the-air (OTA) update to come anytime from today onwards.
- Pixel 6 series (Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a)
- Pixel 7 series (Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a)
- Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold (not officially launched in Singapore)
- Pixel 8 series (Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a)
- Pixel 9 series (Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and the upcoming Pixel 9a)
If you are region-locked (Taiwan+EMEA, Verizon, and Deutsche Telekom), the update only applies to earlier flagship versions of the Pixel 9 series (Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold).
