CED coaches offered invaluable inside look into the Men’s National Team – Football Association of Singapore

During the March FIFA international window, Singapore Men’s National Team Head Coach Tsutomu Ogura welcomed aspiring coaches from the Football Association of Singapore’s (FAS) Coach Education & Development (CED) programme to a Lions training session at Kallang Football Hub (KFH).

The session was organised as part of a concerted effort between the National Teams and the CED to give coaches insights into the work that goes behind the Lions as part of their education and professional development.

Over 60 coaches from various clubs’ Centres of Excellence (COE), the National Development Centre (NDC), as well as clubs participating in the Singapore Youth League (SYL), got a first-hand look as Ogura and his backroom staff prepared the Lions for the start of their Asian Football Conferderation (AFC) Asian Cup qualifying campaign.

The coaches saw how Ogura and his team worked together to ensure optimum efficiency in managing one of the many demanding days in an international window.

“The insights around Ogura’s planning and organisation were huge. Seeing the teamwork and collaboration between the backroom staff will provide a lot of learnings for the coaches. Communication and relationships building are fundamental for any successful team,” said Hasney Aljofree, the Head of CED.

“Having this connection to the National Team allows our Singaporean coaches to dream, aspire and be motivated to achieve good things.”

“Coach education is a pillar of any successful football nation. Getting good coaches through education and development will elevate Singapore football, I have no doubt,” he added.

After the training session, Ogura took time to conduct a short presentation for the visiting coaches. The presentation provided the coaches with valuable lessons on how preparation and training sessions are executed at the international level.

“It was a pleasure to welcome the CED coaches to our training session. It is important to share our knowledge to support the next generation of coaches. This will be good for not only the coaches’ development but also youth development,” said Ogura.

“These are the coaches that will be working with footballers who are the future of Singapore, and our doors are always open to help the cause.”
