FSAM conducts second edition of Lecture Series in February – Football Association of Singapore

This Lecture Series was led by the Head of the Football Science and Medicine (FSAM) Department, Firdaus Maasar, February 2025.

The Football Science and Medicine (FSAM) department held the second edition of its Lecture Series on 19 February 2025 at the Seminar Room in the Annex Building of Jalan Besar Stadium. The session was attended by representatives from Singapore Premier League (SPL) clubs and focused on sharing practical insights to support player performance.

A total of 16 participants took part in the session, which was aimed at First Team Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Fitness Coaches. The lecture was led by FSAM Head of Department, Firdaus Maasar, and covered topics related to both match data and training considerations.

The first part of the session, SPL Physical Data (GPS) Review, looked at match parameters for SPL teams and selected players. It also provided comparisons between SPL performance data and that of regional teams to offer context and potential areas for development.

The second part of the session focused on Managing Performance during Ramadan, discussing how fasting might affect players physically and how training sessions could be adjusted to reduce injury risk. Areas such as training timing and load management were also discussed.

Club staff were encouraged to share their experiences and ask questions about their current approaches, allowing for open discussion and exchange of ideas.

The FSAM Lecture Series continues to provide a platform for practical learning and collaboration between clubs and support staff in the SPL.
