First announced in Sony PlayStation’s September 2024 State of Play, Ghost of Yotei, the sequel to the sword-slinging open-world Ghost of Tsushima, has finally gotten an exact an exact release date of October 2025, along with pricing details.

Take a look at the new trailer that came alongside this announcement here, titled The Onryo’s List:

Set in on the island of Ezo (or Hokkaido as it’s known now), the story of Ghost of Yotei will see Atsu, the main protagonist, hunting down a group of outlaws called the Yotei Six, who wronged her family and left her for dead earlier in her life. As she pursues vengeance, she also meets a list of allies that will help her achieve a renewed purpose in life.

The trailer also shows off some combat gameplay and what environments we can expect, including what looks to be seasonal weather similar to Ghost of Tsushima, though we’ll have to see if it affects gameplay or is mostly a visual element.

Sucker Punch, the game’s developers, also promises more freedom in open-world exploration compared to Ghost of Tsushima. The game is structured such that you can choose which leads to follow when hunting the Yotei Six members, and this comes along with other bounties and targets. You’ll also be able to set up a campfire anywhere within the world to rest.

Overall, Sucker Punch aims for this to be a wilder installment compared to its predecessor, stating in a blog post last September that the game will be a “far cry from the organised samurai clans” of Ghost of Tsushima.

Pricing and availability

The game will be available on 2 October this year, though pre-orders will start on 2 May. Pre-order content will include a PSN avatar set of Atsu and the Yotei Six as well as an in-game cosmetic mask.

When the game does release, it will come in multiple versions, including a Standard Edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes exclusive in-game cosmetics and an early unlock of the Traveler’s Maps, a utility item that helps you find statues to upgrade your skills. There’s also a Collector’s Edition, which will include physical replicas of in-game items such as Atsu’s Ghost mask and her sash with the names of the Yotei Six,along with pre-order bonuses and items from the Digital Deluxe Edition.

The Standard Edition will cost S$97.90 while the Digital Deluxe Edition will cost S$107. Pricing for the Collector’s Edition has yet to be confirmed. The game will be a PS5 exclusive (for now at least), and you can find its PlayStation page here.
