The global PC market’s shipment saw a temporary surge in Q1 2025. Counterpoint Research’s preliminary data reveals that global PC shipments rose 6.7% YoY to 61.4 million units.

The surge is attributed to PC vendors expediting shipments ahead of the US tariffs and the increasing adoption of AI-enabled PCs. This is unsurprising considering Apple reportedly flew five full cargo planes carrying iPhones from India and China in late March

Apple enjoyed the greatest growth a 17% YoY increase, thanks to the MacBook Air (M4) series launch in March. Lenovo came in second with 11% due to its expansion into AI-enabled PCs and a diversified portfolio.

Lenovo also continued to have the biggest market share during the quarter with 25%. HP is next with 21% and Dell is third with 16%. Apple is fourth with 10%.

The surge is expected to be short-lived, with inventory levels stabilising over the next few weeks. Growth momentum for the rest of the year will likely slow down due to the higher prices caused by the ongoing trade war and disruption to the global supply chain.
