Google announces extended battery repair program for the Pixel 7a
Google announced an extended repair program for Pixel 7a users who are facing battery swelling issues.
According to its support page, “certain Pixel 7a phones may experience unexpected battery swelling.” Symptoms of battery swelling include the following:
- Visible swelling of the phone, where the phone may appear thicker than normal, or the back cover may be bulging
- Phone cover bulging or separating from the device with noticeable gaps or openings along the edges
- Significant battery drain, even with minimal use, or failure to charge
Google says eligible Pixel 7a devices will receive one battery replacement at no charge. However, this does not extend the standard warranty coverage of the Pixel 7a.
If you have a Pixel 7a and you are affected by this issue, you can check your eligibility for this program by visiting this link. The extended repair program for the Pixel 7a is available at walk-in repair centres in 7 countries: US, India, Canada, UK, Germany, Japan, and Singapore.
The Google Pixel 7a launched in Singapore for S$749 in May 2023. Check out our review of the Pixel 7a if you want to find out more.
