Ji Hyun-woo denounces his kingmaker and First Lady Eugene

Election season is coming to MBN this fall, showcasing Eugene (Penthouse 3) as the melodrama’s First Lady and accompanied by her husband (a.k.a. South Korea’s new president-elect) Ji Hyun-woo (Beauty and Mr. Romantic) in the latest promos.
The trailer opens on what should have been a joyous occasion, celebrating Hyun Min-chul’s (Ji Hyun-woo) hard-earned victory at the presidential polls. But while Cha Soo-yeon (Eugene) beams at the cheering crowd, the actual guest of honor remains stoic by her side and soon makes it known to his wife that he now wants a divorce.
It’s a scandalous decision, considering that Min-chul still has 67 days left until his inauguration and his public image would certainly take a hit. Soo-yeon has a celebrity reputation to protect as well and considering that she’s the kingmaker who put Min-chul on the Blue House throne, she’ll do everything in her power to hold onto her half of the shares.
Secrets and conspiracies are of course clouding the truth for our not-yet-ex-couple and it’s difficult to tell who or what can be trusted with so many suspicious characters lurking around in the vicinity. In the sequence, shady number one has to be Min-chul’s cryptic secretary Lee Min-young (Perfect Marriage Revenge) and shady number two is stylist Han Su-ah (Doubt). This is in addition to the unseen voices who will also be contributing to our story’s conflict.
However, whatever has been happening, it’s now too late to turn things back. And the teaser comes to a close with both Soo-yeon and Min-chul resolving to fight.
Directed by filmmaker Lee Ho-yeon (Inside a Funeral Hall) with writing by Kim Hyung-wan (Dream High 2), MBN’s First Lady premieres on September 24 next month, broadcasting in a Wednesday-Thursday slot.
