Junho takes charge of his Typhoon Family

The first posters and teaser for tvN’s Typhoon Family have come whirling in, introducing us to Junho (King the Land) in all his Gen X glory as he steps into the shoes of CEO to save his father’s struggling company.

The year in our period story is 1997, when South Korea’s economy was also hit by the Asian Financial Crisis, which in Korea is commonly referred to as the IMF Crisis. This puts the Typhoon Trading Company also in the red, leaving it with no employees, no money, and no goods to trade or sell.

Here enters Junho in the video teaser, taking on the role of our underdog hero Kang Tae-poong. Incidentally, he shares a name with his father’s business (“tae-poong” meaning typhoon) and the office is understandably in a state of mess. Fittingly, though, our Tae-poong has the gumption of a typhoon himself, declaring that he won’t beaten because, “It’s this time period that has collapsed. I have not.”

Although not featured in this round of promos, the series also stars Kim Min-ha (Way Back Love) as a Typhoon employee who teams up with our hero, along with Tae-poong’s best friend Kim Min-seok (Shark – The Storm). The lineup also includes employees, Lee Chang-hoon (Resident Playbook) and Kim Jae-hwa (Crushology 101), as well as Tae-poong’s parents, Sung Dong-il (Twelve) and Kim Ji-young (Spring of Youth) among other talents.

Directed by PD Lee Na-jung (See You in My 19th Life, Fight My Way) with Jang Hyun-sook writing, tvN’s Typhoon Family is slated to premiere on October 11, broadcasting on weekends following Bon Appetit Your Majesty.
