Park Min-young is both beauty and brains in Confidence Queen

Get ready to be duped in Amazon Prime’s newest drama Confidence Queen (previously The Confidence Man KR). A remake of the popular Japanese series, the upcoming caper stars Park Min-young (Marry My Husband) as the leader of a swindling group who targets the villains of society.

The teaser opens to Yoon Yi-rang (Park Min-young) dazzling the screen with her various guises as she states, “My beauty is my greatest weapon.” She then pops out in a Frida Kahlo inspired look, and her partner Myung Gu-ho, played by Joo Jong-hyuk (The Witch), cackles at her sheer confidence. This earns him a kick to the rear, and he skitters off to complete his part of the con.

Gu-ho believes that the appeal of a good swindle lies in the unexpected twists, and the teaser shows him “cleaning up” and stealing papers. From tight spaces to even tighter clothes, our con artist stays on his toes, or in some cases, is lifted off them by security.

Completing the trio is Park Hee-soon (Squid Game 3) as James. He says that it will only be a matter of time before they find out their target’s weakness and utilizes all his tools to hack and obtain the information they need. A suave con man in one scene then a silly blue-haired one in the next, it seems our swindling heroes are open to looking ridiculous in order to succeed.

A plan requires skills, a good con is an art, and in the hands of professionals, a swindle becomes a rollicking fun time. As the group gets ready to target their next bad guy, Yi-rang says what they need now is the perfect pushover.

Directed by PD Nam Ki-hoon (Destined with You, Big Bet) with scripts penned by Hong Seung-hyun (Criminal Minds), Confidence Queen is slated for twelve episodes and begins its first act on September 6.
