Purported iPhone 17 Pro cases reveal massive camera bump cutout
Tipster @SonnyDickson shared a photo of what he claims are iPhone 17 Pro cases, and these cases appear to confirm rumours of a redesigned camera bar.
The camera cutout is significantly larger, which is a stark contrast to the square cutout on iPhone 16 Pro cases. These cases also corroborate the CADs that he published last month.
Renders provided by tipster Jon Prosser show a wide horizontal camera bar on the rear of the iPhone 17 Pro. If true, it would be the first significant redesign of the camera bump in five years.
The new design is believed to enable a more thermally efficient layout and improve sensor separation for enhanced depth mapping.
There are reports that Apple plans to equip the iPhone 17 lineup with vapour chamber heatsinks to reduce thermal throttling and maintain consistent performance.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup in September.
