Putting the terms ‘gaming’ and ‘productivity’ together when marketing a product seems like a strange choice, but that’s exactly what Razer is pushing with the release of the Razer Pro Click V2 and Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition, the latter of which is the company’s first vertical mouse.

Though it’s not the first time Razer has delved into productivity. The two mice are successors to the original Pro Click, which was developed as part of the Razer Productivity Suite back in 2020.

Razer says that the mice, which were made with ergonomics and ‘gaming precision’ in mind, is intended for gamers who want to “integrate gaming products into their work setup”. This includes a Razer Focus Pro 30K Optical Sensor that is present on both mice, Chroma RGB, mechanical switches with a lifecycle of up to 60 million clicks and a max DPI of 30,000

For productivity, both mice support Razer HyperSpeed Wireless, a 2.4GHz connection that allows for simultaneous connection with up to five devices. They’re also the first mice to support Razer AI Prompt Master, which allows you to quickly access services like ChatGPT or Copilot AI through pressing and holding the DPI button. This works with any existing ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot accounts, so you don’t need a subscription to either service to use it. Both mice also charge via USB-C.

Looking deeper into the mice, the most notable out of the two is the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition. This was designed with ergonomics as a priority, featuring a 71.7 degree angle for a handshake grip, along with a concave dip on the side for resting the thumb on.

Razer states that the Vertical Edition is able to last six months on a full charge, and there are a total of eight programmable buttons on the mouse, including buttons located above and below the thumb rest. The Vertical Edition is a right-handed vertical mouse though, so unfortunately it’s a non-starter for the left-handed 10% of the population.

The Razer Pro Click V2 is the more direct successor to the original Pro Click, though it still looks more gamer-y than its predecessor. The more conventional out of the new mice, it also packs some ergonomic features; though the angle is less extreme than Vertical Edition, but at 30º, it clearly still aims for those looking for a moderate but noticeable tilt.

The Pro Click V2 also features Razer HyperSpeed scrolling. The scroll-wheel can be used in two modes: Tactile Cycling Mode, which provides for notched scrolling with distinct stages meant for gaming, and Free-Spin Scrolling Mode, used for scrolling content quickly.

For the battery life, it can only go a little past half of what the Vertical Edition offers at 3.5 months on a full charge, likely due to its smaller size.
