News bites: September 16, 2025

Joo Jong-hyuk, Lee Jae-in, Cha Tae-hyun

  • Production for Personal Taxi has officially hit the road, seating Cha Tae-hyun (Moving) behind the driver’s wheel in this slice-of-life style story. With Lee Jae-in (Our Unwritten Seoul), Im Se-mi (The Winning Try), Joo Jong-hyuk (Confidence Queen), and Yeh Soo-jung (Twelve) among the many, many passengers booking a ride, the webtoon-adaptation is slated for 8 episodes in the first of possibly more seasons and is set to start filming this month. • In what might be another Gaksital reunion for Park Ki-woong after The Midnight Studio, he and Jin Se-yeon (Bad Memory Eraser) have reportedly been cast in KBS’s next weekender Prescribing Love (roughly translated). I presume they’ll be our Romeo and Juliet with feuding families at the center of our story, with one side running a hospital clinic while the other administers traditional acupuncture and tonics. Aiming to broadcast in February 2026, PD Han Joon-seo (The Real Has Come) is directing with scripts by Park Ji-sook (The Tale of Lady Ok). [My Daily]

  • More stills have dropped on tvN for our 1990s Typhoon Family, giving us a peek at dad Sung Dong-il (Twelve) who will be passing the reins of his business to his still-maturing but spirited son Junho (King the Land). With Kim Min-ha (Way Back Love) by the latter’s side to help get the company back on its feet, the period underdog story will be premiering next month on October 11. [MBC, Osen]
  • The photo party continues on Netflix as well, this time (and finally!) showcasing more of the main cast on Genie, Make a Wish. Starring Kim Woo-bin (Black Knight) and Suzy (Doona), as well as Ahn Eun-jin (Goodbye Earth), Noh Sang-hyun (Pachinko 2), Go Kyu-pil (Twelve), and Lee Joo-young (Aema), the fantasy rom-com will be launching its tale on October 3. • On ENA, Jeon Yeo-bin (Our Movie) is tying the (contract) knot to become Ms. Incognito in the latest video teaser. But as the new missus to the dying chaebol chairman, she’ll have to survive the ongoing inheritance war against obstacles in the form of Jinyoung (Who Is She), Seo Hyun-woo (Our Movie), Jang Yoon-ju (Queen of Tears), and Joo Hyun-young (The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract). The crime-romance is set to premiere on September 29, following My Troublesome Star in the Monday-Tuesday slot. [JTBC]
  • The mood is also tense on Netflix’s upcoming movie, with Im Shi-wan (Squid Game 3) as our Mantis in the newest poster and trailer. In a spin-off of Netflix’s Kill Bok-soon, the action-noir will be releasing next week on September 26, bringing Park Kyu-young (Squid Game 3) and Jo Woo-jin (Heavenly Ever After) into the assassin fold as well.
