The iPad might finally get a native Instagram app
Meta is finally making a native Instagram app for the iPad, according to The Information.
An Instagram employee reportedly told The Information that the company is leveraging the uncertain future of TikTok in the US to “further drive usage of Instagram” by working on an iPad app.
Instagram has resisted building a native iPad app since its launch in 2010. Adam Mosseri, the head of the social networking platform, shared in 2021 that an iPad app was not a priority since “there’s a lot to do and only so many people”. According to analysts, Apple had sold around 17.5 million iPads by 2021.
The following year, Mosseri said the iPad user base was not significant enough to be a priority for the company.
The Information says there is no specific timeline for when the native iPad app will launch.
